Finding Gratitude and Hope in the Midst of Tragedy

Redwood City resident Ivone Palencia sent out a personal video message to the community today, thanking everyone for their prayers and support.

Ivone Palencia and her family were critically injured in an automobile crash in Sonoma County on the afternoon of Saturday, April 10, 2021.

Witnesses say DUI suspect Agustin Delariva was traveling in excess of 70 MPH when he plowed into the Palencia-Valesquez family. All four members of the Palencia-Valesquez household were in the car at the time of the crash.

Ivone and her mother remain hospitalized. Her brother has been transferred to an acute care facility that specializes in traumatic brain injuries. Ivone's sister is now at home recovering after being readmitted for surgery a little over a week ago.

As you will see in the following video message, Ivone's profound courage, strength, and hope are truly inspiring.
